Each point means an additional increase in your insurance rates as estimated below:
1 point = 25% increase
2 points = 45% increase
3 points = 65% increase
4 points = 90% increase
5 points = 120% increase
6 points = 150% increase
7 points = 180% increase
8 points = 220% increase
9 points = 260% increase
10 points = 300% increase
So, for example, a moving violation of 70 in a 55 mph zone will increase your premium by 45 percent for three years. Below is an example of what a conviction of 70-55 mph zone will cost you if you are convicted (this example assumes your yearly insurance is $800.00):
First year: 45% increase x $800.00 = $360.00
Second year: 45% increase x $800.00 = $360.00
Third year: 45% increase x $800.00 = $360.00
Total increase over a three year period = $1,080.00
